Past and Present”
Cortez Airport Terminal - A
permanent exhibit that presents the unique story of Cortez rich
Aviation History from the early Aviation Pioneers, Polly and
Rollin Usher … the U-2, “Spy Plane” landing at Cortez … to the
amazing record breaking Around the World flight of the “City of
Cortez!” Also included in the Exhibit are the present activities
of Cortez Senior Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP), and
Cortez Chapter 1451 of the Experimental Aircraft Association
(EAA). Opened May 15, 2009.
"Aviation Heritage of Cortez and Across America”
Cortez Cultural Center - A
temporary exhibit that presents an informative retrospective of
Aviation Heritage of Cortez and Across America. This exhibit will take
you to the first flight of the Wright Brothers . . . and introduce Charles A. “Lucky” Lindbergh, Amelia Earhart, and the
Aviation Pioneers of Cortez. The exhibit also includes, from the
Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, photos and portions of the
exterior “skin” of famous Heritage aircraft including Amelia
Earhart’s record setting “Lockheed Vega,” Cortez Cultural Center,
Opens July 30, 2009 1:00 PM.
